MAURICE GIBB RAILROAD (Polydor)

A debut solo single from Maurice, and he’s sure made a meal of it! Because in addition to co-writing it with brother-in-law Billie Lawrie, he has also produced it. And the accompanying blurb tells us that he played all the instruments, except drums – though I can’t believe that applies to the background string section!

It’s a pretty song with a strong country flavour and an easy going jog along rhythm. Mainly dual tracked it generates a soothing and relaxed atmosphere, for which most of the credit belongs to the arrangement. And of course, Maurice was responsible for that, too!
