:: Robin in Moscow

Last night Robin Gibb's Magnetic Tour reached Moscow. Robin gave a stand-alone live performance at the Kremlin Concert Hall. The State Kremlin palace is one of the best and most prestigious theatrical/concert venues of Moscow and Russia. Robin was accompanied by his band as well as an orchestra. The show lasted one hour and a half and this time Robin included 'I Started A Joke,' though he only sang a couple of lines a capella. You can see photos at the Bee Gees Russian Site. Celebrities including Robin Gibb launched yesterday a new advert drawing attention to the plight of children who die because of extreme poverty. Make Poverty History, which has produced the advert, said one child dies every three seconds from extreme poverty. A spokesman for Make Poverty History said: "The click ad will be used on TV, radio and in print advertising globally over the course of the year. The plan is to make 'every gig a Live Aid'. To this end, musicians the world over will play the click ad on screens at their concerts around the world. So get out and vote on May 5 and vote Labour."

Barry Gibb has been working for Streisand's new album at the Hit Factory Criteria (formerly Criteria Recording Studios) in North Miami. On April 22, 2005, he was officially welcomed back to the city of North Miami by councilman Scott Galvin, who presented Barry with a commemorative sign for Brothers Gibb Boulevard, a section of NE 18th Avenue in North Miami that had been renamed last year for Barry, Robin and Maurice. Robin Gibb gave three concerts in Hong Kong. The audience's response was fantastic and everybody ended up dancing. On the right you can see a photo of Robin taken at the first concert. Robin Gibb has recorded a cover of Woman In Love with Liz McClarnon (singer and contestant in British reality TV show Island of Love). She revealed to Insider that she's about to release it as a single. The track was recorded in Britain last week and is produced by Robin Gibb who also sings on it. This week dance remixes are being put together of the recording which will possibly be served to radio and clubs next week. The single is expected to be released late July/early August. In the works are [1] a Maurice Gibb tribute album (including Paul McCartney, Wyclef Jean, Jagged Edge, Rascal Flatts, Snoop Dogg and, Sheryl Crow), [2] a free summer concert in Central Park (July 4th, 2007) to be broadcast and taped, [3] a prime-time special, [4] a Broadway musical ("You Win Again") to debut on Broadway and London's West End toward the end of next year, [5] a film and [6] a book. Robin Gibb received today a prestigious Rock And Roll diploma from Paul McCartney during a ceremony at the ex-Beatle's Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) in England. McCartney told Robin he deserved the honorary companionship - the equivalent of an honorary degree - because he belongs to a band which is ranked sixth on the all-time top sellers list, and is the only act in history to write, produce and record six consecutive hit singles.  As you know, in February Robin Gibb was invited by Paul McCartney to the Liverpool's School of Performing Arts, and answered students' questions about songwriting and the music industry (You can see photos at RobinGibb.com). Our friend Gordon Peng and his family in Robin's concert it Taipei :"The last 1/3 of the concert had 99% of the audience standing there listening, singing & dancing with Robin. Ballads like "I started a Joke" or "To Love Somebody" brought back nice memories to the old fans, whereas upbeat songs such as "You Win Again" or "You Should Be Dancing" kept everyone dancing and the floor shaking. "Stranger in a strange land" is a new entry at 40 in Billboard's adult contemporary chart and "Night Of My Life" climbs from 51 to 32 in the hot dance club charts. The album Guilty Pleasures will debut in the charts next week. The competition will be tough, since new albums from Bon Jovi and Disturbed are selling better than Guilty Pleasures, but no doubt Streisand's album will enter in the top 10. Bee Gees have won the Q Lifetime achievement award. Robin Gibb received the award at the ceremony held today at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London. - At Bonnet Rocks an interview with Graham Bonnet (who performed songs written by the Gibbs both solo and as a member of The Marbles).
- There is also an interesting interview with Harord Cowart at 2TheAdvocate.com. Cowart played bass on Spirits Having Flown and Living Eyes and toured with the Bee Gees in 1979. As you already know, Robin has recorded First Of May with British band G4. The song will be included in G4's new album G4 and friends to be relased on November 28, and will also be released as a single together with the song ‘ When a Child is Born' .
